Lisa Hutchinson
D.O.B: 12/05/82
Height: 5′8″
Weight:
Position: Guard
Notes:
A mainstay of the consistently successful Sheffield Hatters team, all but one of Hutchinson’s nine seasons in senior basketball have been spent with the Yorkshire club.
The 5’8” guard made her EBL debut for the Hatters in the 2001-02 season and the only campaign in which she has not been an integral part of their success came in 2008-09 when she spent the year with Tenerife in the second division of the Spanish league.
Domestically, during her time with Sheffield, Hutchinson’s long list of honours includes the EBL championship in 2006 and 2007, the latter victory saw her named MVP of the play-off final, as well as the regular season championships of 2007 and 2008.
On the international front, meanwhile, Hutchinson represented the England national team at under-16 and under-18 levels, advancing to play for the full senior side in 2003 and 2004 although, to her disappointment, she failed to make the final cut for the England squad that flew to Australia to compete in the 2006 Commonwealth Games.
Consolation for Hutchinson came in 2007, however, when she made her GB debut against Estonia as the team started their successful attempt to gain promotion from the B Division of Eurobasket. Hutchinson would return in 2008 and 2009 to the national team, seeing her minutes increase along the way, as she became a central part of the GB roster.
Damian Jennings says: “Lisa is an interesting character and a player who unites team-mates through sheer grittiness and self-determination. As a point guard she is the heartbeat of our team and she certainly wears her heart on her sleeve – incredibly committed. She loves to instigate the fast break because she loves the speed of the game and is just a great team player.”
