D.O.B: 21/04/83
Height:6′2″
Weight:
Position: Forward
Notes:
A member of the GB team in the 2008 Eurobasket campaign, Page has made a solid professional career for herself in Germany, Italy and France since completing her college career at Eastern Washington.
Originally from Stockport, the 6’2” forward/centre was an outstanding college player, being named to the All-Big Sky Team in her senior year, 2005-06, a year in which she averaged around 10 points and 5 rebounds a game, as had been the case in each of her final three years of university basketball.
Setting out on her professional career, Page spent two seasons with TV 1872 Saarlouis in the top division of German basketball, after the second of which she made her GB debut, appearing in two games in the summer of 2008 as GB experienced their first taste of A Division basketball.
Page had already made her international debut, at the under-20 level, in 2002 when she enjoyed a successful campaign with England, averaging 17.2 points and 7.8 rebounds over five games.
It was that kind of potential that made her attractive to Saarlouis and she repaid the German club by helping them to finish second in the German league in 2007 and 2008 as well as victory in the 2008 DBBL Cup. She was also named Centre of the Year in the DBBL in 2008, was named the Bosman Player of the Year and named to the DBBL First Team in that 2007-08 campaign.
With such an outstanding domestic season behind her, Page’s services were in demand and she moved to Banco di Sicilia Ribera in the Italian top division for 2008-09, also appearing for the club in the EuroCup, before moving in to France for 2009-10 where she signed for Pays d’Aix Basket.
Damian Jennings says: “An experienced European player who is a physical presence on the boards, Julie is one of those players who has shown great promise in practice but is yet to really step up in games for us. But she has great leadership qualities and loves the physicality of the game which makes her a potentially important player for the future.”
