GB Men Remain PERFECT! 4-0 Record, Top of the Group!

by Sam on August 15, 2010

The GB Men remain perfect after a 90-76 victory over Ukraine yesterday evening at the NIA, Birmingham. Their record now stands at 4-0 as they sit atop of Group B in their Eurobasket 2011 qualifying campaign.

The game remained close until Nate Reinking hit two straight jumpshots to put GB up by 7 with just over 2 and a half minutes remaining, and then superstar Luol Deng closed it out.

Deng nailed a three to send the crowd into a frenzy and as chants of “Deng, Deng, Deng, Deng, Deng, Deng, Deng” resonated around the arena he stole the ball and finished a huge two handed dunk on the break as the place erupted. He then hit another three to put the game out of reach, giving GB a 15 point lead as they sealed the victory.

Luol Deng finished with 28 points, Pops Mensah-Bonsu finished with 15 points and eight boards, with Nate Reinking adding 15 points and Dan Clark just missing out on a double-double with 14 points and 9 rebounds.

BIG UP The Balldogs, who represented to the FULLEST in the Dog Pound making some serious noise and getting the chants going in the arena. Luol and Pops had a brief chat with me and Sillky after the game and showed a lot of appreciation-your efforts certainly did not go unnoticed so thank you.

Also huge shout out to Channel 4 who did an interview with me and Sillky at halftime plugging the campaign to be broadcast in their highlights package which is being shown next Sunday morning at 7am-make sure you tune in!
